Common uses
This medication is typically used for actinic keratosis. It may also be used for the treatment of skin cancer. It requires a few weeks to take effect.
How to use this medication
This product is part of a treatment that includes exposure to artificial light. The cream must be applied at a specific time preceding the exposition to the light. Every step of the treatment should be executed by a health professional.
The affected area should be protected from light for a period of at least 48 hours following the treatment.
Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed.
Possible side effects
In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably:
- it may cause dryness and peeling of the skin;
- it may cause tissues to break down at the site where the medication is used;
- it could cause water retention and swelling;
- it may make your skin more sensitive to UV rays (e.g., sunlight, tanning lamps) - avoid exposure to UV rays as much as possible and protect yourself when out in the sun;
- it may cause stinging or itching;
- when used, it may cause a temporary burning sensation;
- it may cause local redness.
Storage information
Keep this product in the refrigerator and do not allow it to freeze. Once opened, the product must be used within 28 days. Any unused portion should be discarded.
