The flu is a serious disease
The flu is a highly contagious infection that causes symptoms such as fever, cough, muscle aches and severe fatigue. For a healthy person, the flu will cause a lot of discomfort but will usually resolve without complications. For people with health issues, however, the flu can lead to hospitalization or even death. For these people, getting vaccinated every year is a good way to protect themselves against the flu.

Who can get the flu vaccine?

In Quebec, the flu vaccine is authorized for all people who wish to reduce their risk of contracting the disease or transmitting it (from the age of 6 months).

However, the vaccination is only offered free of charge to certain groups of people who are at higher risk of complications if they contract the disease, as well as to their family members or caregivers.

To find out if you are eligible to receive the flu vaccine free of charge, consult a healthcare professional.

Where to get vaccinated?

During the annual vaccination campaign, which usually begins in November each year, it is possible to get vaccinated at a vaccination center or at one of the many pharmacies that offer vaccination services.
